What has everyone talking? Caution: Spoiler alert

Suddenly, everyone is talking about Succession, a comedy/drama TV series on HBO, particularly after a “brilliant twist” that came in a “game-changing” episode in its final season. Everything you need to know, but spoilers ahead.

The buzz surrounds the episode entitled “Conner’s Wedding” from season 4, episode 3, of Succession.

The episode begins like most have in the series, with media titan Logan Roy preparing to make yet another series of business moves. Raising the stakes is the fact that these actions are poised to drive a wedge right through the middle of an already-fragile alliance between his children, BuzzFeed News reported.

Causing friction and pain is the fact that he’s going to skip his eldest son’s wedding so that he can travel to Sweden to finish selling off the bulk of the company he founded – Waystar-Royco – to another digital entertainment company called Gojo.

Roy’s goal is to secure his legacy. However, his children are an obstacle attempting to thwart him at every turn.

On the plane trip to Sweden, Logan Roy dies unexpectedly. While his death has hovered over the series throughout, no one would have predicted he was going to check out with a stroke in only the third episode of the final season.

This turn of events will undoubtedly send all the dominoes tumbling.

Logan’s lifelong ambition of sealing his legacy passes with him, as death takes him before he could seal the deal, and the fate of his empire remains to be seen, Indiewire reported.

This twist in the turn of events comes as the audience watched the build-up to a board meeting, a wedding, a showdown between Kendall and Shiv and their father Logan, a testing of the new power of Tom and Greg, as well as exploring Kerry’s motives and next steps, NPR reported.

With the power struggles, sibling rivalry, and corporate maneuvering, as well as the continuous reshuffling of alliances, Logan’s death will only complicate matters even further as the knives are likely to come out.

The series has won multiple Emmy awards

The series has won 13 Primetime Emmys, including outstanding drama series in 2022. Other Emmy wins in 2022 include Matthew Macfadyen for outstanding supporting actor, Avy Kaufman and Francine Maisler for outstanding casting.

The series also won numerous Emmys in 2020, including Andrij Parekh for outstanding directing, Jeremy Strong for outstanding lead actor, Jessie Armstrong a winner for outstanding writing, Cherry Jones for outstanding guest actress, Avy Kaufman for outstanding casting, William Henry and Venya Bruk for outstanding single-camera picture editing.

The takeaway here is that Succession stands as a prime example of what many have been saying for a long time: The best writing has moved from feature films to series television, particularly cable series.
