Tom Hanks Yells F-Bomb to Protect Wife Tripped by Aggressive Fans

Tom Hanks snapped at a crowd, dropping the F-bomb as he yelled at aggressive, rushing fans, one of whom tripped his wife Rita Wilson and nearly knocked her over as they were mobbed outside a restaurant.

Tom Hanks yells F-bomb to protect wife from unruly crowd

There is something about celebrities that causes people to overreact, and although fans are trying to express their adoration, they can sometimes put their idols in harm’s way (just ask the Beatles). Last night in New York was a case in point.

In New York City last evening, Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, both 65, were mobbed as they exited the restaurant in Midtown, where a large crowd quickly formed and swarmed them, the Daily Mail reported.

One member of the crowd became overly aggressive and knocked into Rita, causing her to lose her footing. Rita wobbled to maintain her balance, screaming as she nearly fell, then held up her hands and shouted: “Stop it!”

Tom, who is typically composed, quickly assessed the danger to his wife and immediately went into protective mode, uncharacteristically losing his cool and yelling the F-bomb at the swirling throng of fans.

A video of the incident was posted by the Metro.

“Back the F*** Off!” he screamed. “Knocking over my wife?”

Bodyguards assured the couple into a waiting limousine. The crowd quickly began pointing fingers at one another, while other people could be heard apologizing to Tom. One guy claimed someone else pushed him into Rita, TMZ reported.

Because of the overly-zealous nature of the crowd, they did not get the autographs and selfies they were probably hoping for, as the couple was whisked away by bodyguards for their own protection.

Tom Hanks health scare

One thing that was apparent in the video of Tom Hanks captured amid the unruly crowd was the actor’s gaunt appearance. Photos taken earlier in the day also reflected the same startling change. It is unclear whether his recent weight loss is due to a requirement for a new role.

In 2013, Hanks revealed he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

During a promotional junket earlier this month for his appearance in the new film Elvis, Hanks’ arm visibly shook as he spoke, the Daily Mail reported, which has led to speculation of a potential health scare. The Mail spoke to one doctor who said that the actor could possibly have Parkinson’s or some other condition that creates tremors, although at 65, he’s still a bit young yet for the latter.
