Lisa Marie Presley’s 14-year-old twins at center of huge custody battle

Lisa Marie Presley’s 14-year-old twin daughters may be at the center of a huge custody battle between their father, who’s ready to take the battle to court, and the star’s ex, who “sees himself as their stepfather.”

Huge custody battle brewing over Lisa Marie’s Presley’s twin 14-year-old daughters

At the time of Lisa Marie Presley’s death on January 12, 2023, she held sixty percent custody of her twin 14-year-old daughters, Finley and Harper, while their father, Michael Lockwood, 61, held 40 percent custody of the girls.

But now, a major custody battle could be brewing and headed for the courts, as sources close to the Presley family say that Danny Keough, 58, Presley’s ex-husband, and the daughter they shared, Riley, 33, may also fight for custody of the twins, the Daily Mail reported.

There is also some talk that Priscilla Presley might also seek custody.

Lockwood is prepared to launch a legal battle in court, if necessary, with sources connected to the Presley family quoting him as saying: “It’ll be a cold day in hell before he gives up custody of those children.”

There is allegedly a ton of bad blood between Keough and Lockwood, TMZ reported.

Lisa Marie’s divorce from Lockwood was reportedly extremely nasty, with allegations of child abuse and drug use hurled around in a case that lingered for five years.

Who will inherit Lisa Marie’s and Elvis’s estates?

Elvis decreed his entire estate to his parents and then 9-year-old Lisa Marie in a trust after he died in 1977. However, after her grandparents died, Lisa Marie became the sole heir to Elvis’s estate, which she received at age 25, People reported. She then formed the Elvis Presley Trust to manage the property alongside Priscilla Presley and the National Bank of Commerce.

Lisa Marie previously sold an 85 percent stake in “Elvis Presley Enterprises” and only retained a 15 percent share.

Lisa Marie’s 15 percent share of Elvis’s estate, which includes Graceland and generates an estimated $100,000 monthly, will be passed on to her three daughters, Riley, Harper, and Finley, according to a representative of the property, the Guardian reported.

California custody laws: 14-year-olds can express their own opinion regarding custody

California’s custody laws could throw a monkey wrench in the battle between Lisa Marie’s ex-husbands, daughter Riley, and mom Priscilla in seeking custody of the 14-year-old twin girls.

In the state of California, there is no specific age at which the court will consider the wishes of a child in determining custody matters. However, Code Section 3042 requires the Court to consider and give due weight to a child’s preference regarding custody. California AB 1050 amends this statute to allow children who are aged 14 and up to express their parental preference to the court to assist in determining custody. For the child’s preference to carry weight, the child must be both of sufficient age and have the ability to express an intelligent opinion about which parent they would prefer to live with. The judge may still find it not in the child’s best interest, in which case, the reasons must be stated on the record.
