Rapper Kanye West is under investigation for battery allegations by a woman who was filming him after he left his daughter’s basketball game. He reportedly grabbed her phone and tossed it into the street.
Kanye West investigated for battery after altercation with paparazzi
The Ventura County Sheriff’s office received a call on Friday about an altercation with rapper Kanye West, now legally known as Ye, and a woman who was filming him.
West was leaving his daughter’s basketball game and was irritated by the paparazzi, Vanity Fair reported. West first argued with a man, essentially begging for privacy. However, the man argued back, telling West that he was in a public place, and suggested that if he wanted to be with his kids, he should do so at home.
“It’s called human rights,” West responded.
Later, West allegedly approached a woman in a car while they were at a stoplight, getting out of his car to speak to her, US Magazine reported.
“Y’all ain’t gonna run up on me like that,” West said.
The woman, who had a small dog in her lap, replied, “I wasn’t running.”
She kept her phone up, getting a close-up of West as he demanded, “Stop with your cameras.”
The woman said, “I know, but Kanye you’re a celebrity.” Before the woman could continue justifying her actions, West allegedly grabbed the phone from her hands and threw it into the road.
The incident occurred in the city of Thousand Oaks, California, near the Sports Academy, where Kanye’s eldest daughter, North, 9, was scheduled to play a basketball game. Kim Kardashian attended the game with their son Saint, 6, and Tristan Thompson.
West returned to his SUV, where his “wife,” Bianca Censori, was waiting, TMZ reported.
By the time deputies from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office arrived, West had already left the scene. A spokesperson said deputies took a crime report, which will lead to a further investigation of West by detectives, E! Online reported.
West was allegedly married earlier this month
Earlier this month, Kanye reportedly married Bianca Censori, the “head of architecture” for West’s Yeezy brand, Vanity Fair reported.
The couple was wed at a private ceremony in Beverly Hills, although there was no legal marriage certificate involved at the time.
The couple honeymooned in Canyon Point, Utah, at the Amangiri resort, where an average suite goes for $5,000 per night.
