Ironclad Prenup Is Why Tom Brady and Gisele Wrapped Up Divorce So Fast

Many people were surprised at how quickly Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen were able to settle and finalize their divorce. Sources reveal the rapid wrap-up was due to an “ironclad prenup.” They also say Tom “didn’t want divorce.”

Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen had “an ironclad prenup”

In the second week of October, the world learned that Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen had hired divorce lawyers.

Then a mere 18 days later, Tom Brady officially announced the divorce had been finalized, ending their 13-year marriage. Observers were surprised at how the power couple had settled matters so quickly.

Now, thanks to an insider source who spoke to Page Six, it has been revealed that the most prominent reason for ending the nuptials and settling swiftly came down to “an ironclad prenup.”

“There was an ironclad prenup set down before they married in 2009,” the source revealed. “They both have their own separate business entities, so the separation of their wealth wasn’t that complicated in the end.”

“The only other major factor was dividing up their massive property portfolio,” the source added.

In 2009, Brady, 45, and Bündchen, 42, had reportedly worked out a prenuptial agreement, one that was ironclad and inflexible in terms of protecting their individual wealth and simplifying the division of assets.

Because of the prenup, the divorce was apparently wrapped up within hours, according to TMZ.

Another of the major issues, of course, was that of custody of the children. But that was reportedly easily worked out, with the couple agreeing to share joint custody of their two children Benjamin, 12, and Vivian, 9.

Settling the massive money matters

As a couple, Tom Brady and Gisele Bündchen had a combined empire of $733 million.

Bündchen, a former Victoria’s Secret fashion model, has a fortune estimated at $400 million.

Tom’s net worth is estimated between $250 million but is expected to reach $333 million after the 2022 season.

However, according to the source, separating their wealth “wasn’t that complicated” because of the prenup. The “only other major factor” to work out was dividing their $26 million property portfolio, the Daily Mail reported.

According to speculation by the source, Tom is expected to retain a $17 million mansion currently under construction on Indian Creek Island in Miami, while Gisele will retain a $1.25 million home she purchased in Miami Beach, which she’ll likely use as an office, while she has also purchased another larger home in the area.

Tom “didn’t want divorce”

A report also surfaced this week that Tom didn’t want a divorce.

“This was not Tom’s idea,” a source close to Brady told People magazine. “This was never Tom’s idea.”

“[Tom] wanted to do whatever he needed to do to fix things,” the source continued, insisting Brady “didn’t want the divorce and he didn’t want the marriage to end.”

“[Brady] was “willing to go to therapy, marriage counseling,” the source added, “whatever it took to make things work.”
