Woman Murdered Doppelgänger to Fake Her Own Death

A woman in Germany has been arrested after allegedly murdering a doppelgänger she sought out online. Authorities say it was in an attempt to fake her own death.

‘Missing’ Beauty Blogger Now in Custody on Suspicion of Murder

Once thought to be missing by friends and family, beauty blogger Shahraban K. is now in custody on suspicion of murder. The 23-year-old is being held at a prison in Ingolstadt, a city in Bavaria, Germany. A 23-year-old Kosovan man named Sheqir K has also been arrested in connection with the murder.

The parents of Shahraban K reported her missing back in August of last year. When her car was later found in Ingolstadt with a body inside, her parents and the police initially believed it was the body of the missing woman. She had been stabbed several times, and her face was disfigured.

The following day, the autopsy and DNA analysis told a different story. It was revealed that the body belonged to a different woman who looked eerily similar to Shahraban K. That victim was later identified as 23-year-old Khadidja O.

She was arrested on August 18th after police found her at the Kosovan man’s apartment. He was also arrested as an alleged accomplice.

Woman Was Planning to Fake Her Own Death

According to authorities, they believe Shahraban K wanted to go into hiding to avoid family problems, and she was attempting to fake her own death.

“The suspects came up with the plan to search online for a woman who looked similar to the German-Iraqi woman, kill her, and place her in such a way that the corpse would be mistaken for the suspect,” said authorities, according to USA Today.

Shahraban had been setting up fake Instagram accounts and trying to arrange meetings with women who looked similar to her. She eventually found Khadidja O, who lived around 100 miles away.

After persuading Khadidja O to meet up, Shahraban K and Sheqir K allegedly picked her up and drove to a secluded forest area – where they stabbed her more than fifty times.

Shahraban K reportedly told her family that she was going to Ingolstadt to meet with her ex-husband. After she didn’t return, her parents reported her missing and traveled to Ingolstadt to search for her. That’s when they found her car and assumed she had been brutally murdered.

Both suspects have remained in custody since their arrests in August.
