Woman Donates Kidney to Boyfriend, Discovers He Cheated on Her

A woman who thought she would be spending the rest of her life with her boyfriend donated one of her kidneys to save his life, only to later discover he had cheated on her.

Woman donates kidney to boyfriend to save his life

Colleen Le, a 30-year-old account executive based in Yorba Linda, California, recently revealed on TikTok that she met her now ex-boyfriend in 2015 and believed that she had found instant love, BuzzFeed reported.

“Excited my boyfriend gets a second chance at life after getting my kidney,” Colleen wrote in the TikTok video, Yahoo reported. Then, the video transitions to Colleen with her face down on the bed. “Cheats on me.”

After only a few months of dating, Colleen says: “I really thought I was going to spend the rest of my life with him.”

Her then-boyfriend was going through peritoneal dialysis, which meant his kidney function was already at less than 5%.

He needed a kidney to survive.

“So I felt like it was urgent and he needed a kidney as soon as possible,” Colleen says.

Feeling that she had found a partner for life, Colleen decided she would give the man one of her kidneys.

“He didn’t technically ask me for a kidney but pretty much opened the door for me to get tested,” Colleen recalls. “I saw how his day-to-day was and how much he was struggling health-wise so that already convinced me to want to help him the best way I can.”

“I loved him so much that I saved his life,” Colleen said.

After donating kidney, woman finds out boyfriend cheated on her

Seven months after the operation in which Colleen donated her kidney to her now-ex-boyfriend, the relationship appeared to be solid.

“He was a hardcore Christian and always stuck to his morals throughout our relationship,” Colleen said.

But being a Christian doesn’t make someone infallible Colleen was about to discover. Her boyfriend was away at a bachelor party. He came home unannounced and delivered shocking news.

He confessed he cheated on her.

“My initial reaction was hurt and betrayal,” Colleen says. “It definitely shocked me that he would betray me like that after everything I’ve done for him.”

“I felt incredibly backstabbed and taken advantage of,” she added.

Still, despite his infidelity, Colleen tried to give her then-boyfriend a second chance.

By three months after his cheating, the pair got into an argument over the phone. Her boyfriend insisted they stop talking and read the Bible together. Colleen said: “No, can we just talk it out?”

But the boyfriend was so triggered by this that he hung up and blocked Colleen’s number, as well as blocked her on all his social media accounts.

“Just the fact that he cut ties with me so easily and made me feel like I never existed in his life was really hard to get over,” Colleen reflected. “Honestly, thinking back, I don’t know why I thought giving him another chance would work out our relationship when my trust in him was completely shattered.”

Then, after two months of no contact, her ex-boyfriend reached out to her and invited her to lunch around the time of the anniversary of her kidney donation. But she never responded.

“I didn’t respond because I felt like he only reached out to me over guilt,” Colleen says.

No regrets over a life saved

Even after everything that transpired, Colleen says she does not regret donating her kidney to save the man’s life.

“Despite the outcome of everything, I still wouldn’t take back saving his life,” Colleen says.
