Travis Scott and Drake Sued for ‘Inciting the Crowd’ Leaving 8 Dead

Multiple lawsuits have been filed against rappers Travis Scott and Drake, the organizers, and promoters, for “inciting the crowd” at the Astroworld Festival, leaving eight attendees dead and several others severely injured.

Rappers Travis Scott and Drake, concert promoters, sued for deaths and injuries at Astroworld Festival

A surge and crush in the crowd that pressed toward the front of the stage led to 8 deaths and multiple severe injuries at the Astroworld Festival in Houston, Texas on Friday.

Some 300 people were treated for injuries such as bruises and cuts, the BBC reported.

One attendee of the Astroworld Festival, 23-year-old Kristian Paredes, filed a lawsuit for over a million dollars. He claims he was left ‘severely injured’ and alleges the venue and entertainment company Live Nation failed to provide adequate security, as well as medical services.

Another lawsuit, filed by Manuel Souza, is also seeking $1 million in compensation calling the disaster “predictable and preventable” while alleging that “a motivation for profit at the expense of concertgoers’ health and safety” was at fault, as well as the “encouragement of violence” by the performers, Spin reported.

Also named in the lawsuits are the organizers and promoters ScoreMore and Live Nation.

Why did the concert continue after crowd surge? Blame falling on Travis Scott

One of the biggest questions authorities, and undoubtedly the attorneys arguing lawsuits, will ask is why the concert continued after the crowd surge became apparent? Research will be conducted into the timeline of events to determine who knew what and when.

Family members and others on social media are casting blame on Travis Scott and his team in the event organizers for not stopping the show when it became apparent what was happening.

Travis Scott responds, has been convicted twice for concert offenses with crowd

Multiple media reports said Travis Scott voiced he was “devastated” about the deaths and couldn’t “imagine anything like this happening,” the Daily Mail reported.

However, the Mail also reported that Scott had been convicted twice in the past for encouraging fans to cross security barriers and rush the stage at previous concerts.

Families identify 7 of 8 victims killed

According to authorities, one 14-year-old, a 16-year-old, two 21-year-olds, a pair of 23-year-olds, and a 27-year-old victim, ABC reported.
