Tom Brady quits for good, Patriots push for one-day contract

Tom Brady has announced his retirement again, saying he is quitting “for good,” while Patriots owner Robert Kraft wants Brady to sign a one-day contract so he can retire as a Patriot and “honor him” for “years to come.”

Tom Brady retires “for good”

Earlier this week, on Wednesday, Tom Brady informed the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, then the public, that he was indeed retiring – again – bringing to an end his legendary, 23-year career as an NFL quarterback.

Brady made the announcement to the public in a video he posted on Twitter.

“Good morning, guys,” Brady said in the video, “I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring for good.”

“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time,” Brady continued, “so when I woke up this morning, I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first. I won’t be long-winded. I think you only get one super-emotional retirement essay, and I used mine up last year.”

“So I really thank you guys so much, to every single one of you for supporting me–my family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors…I could go on forever–There’s too many,” Brady added. ” Thank you, guys, for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. I love you all.”

No championship, but Brady still had NFL leading season as QB

Brady accomplished his goal of playing at age 45. Although it was not his best season, his performance still led the Buccaneers to a division title, while he led the NFL in pass attempts and completions, and achieved a career-high of 490 completed passes, CBSSports reported.

Patriots owner wants Brady to sign a 1-day contract to retire with team he led for 20 years

The day after Tom Brady made his retirement announcement, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft appeared on CNN This Morning, where he said he would love to have Brady sign a one-day contract and retire with the team he led for 20 years, Yahoo Sports reported.

“I’d do it tomorrow,” Kraft said about signing Brady to a one-day deal. “Not only do I want it, our fans are clamoring for it and to us, he always has been and always will be a Patriot.”

“We’ll do everything we can in our power to bring him back, sign off as a Patriot and find ways to honor him for many years to come,” Kraft continued. “He did so much to bring life and good cheer to our community and he’s a beloved figure and he’s earned the respect and love that people feel for him like no other athlete in our town and we’ve had some great ones.”
