Tom Brady Coming Out Of Retirement

It’s official! Tom Brady’s retirement lasted a whopping one month.

Brady announced today that he will be returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This will be his 23rd season with the NFL.

The former/current Buccaneers quarterback announced his retirement on February 1st. His retirement came immediately after losing in the divisional round in the 2022 playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl Champs, the Las Angels Rams.

But given Brady’s habit of returning season after season, speculation lingered that his retirement would be short-lived.

He did make it 40 days…

The soon to be 45 year old just wasn’t ready to hang up his pads. Maybe the temptation of coming off the statistical best season of his career left him feeling like he still had business to finish. Apparently, 5,316 yards and 43 touchdowns, and 12 interceptions led the team to a 13–4 regular season record wasn’t enough to satisfy Brady.

Deshaun Watson trade

The Buccaneers reportedly courted the Houston Texas quarterback heavily after losing their star. While trade talks were in the works, it’s now irrelevant since Brady’s return. Watson is seeing renewed interest in the trade market. We’ll now have to see how Watson plays against Brady next season if the 22 civil suits against him don’t hinder his player eligibility.

The Bucs may still see some challenges with the 2022 roster since guard Ali Marpet retired and with the potential loss of Antonio Brown. Chris Godwin is out at the start of the regular season with an ACL repair. Only time will tell how a shake-up will affect Brady’s next performance.

How will fans react?

Whether you love him or hate him, we can’t deny how different the NFL world will be when Tom Brady does really retire next time. And then unretires again. And then re-retires.
