Son of imprisoned reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley arrested

Only two months after reality stars Todd and Julie Chrisley began serving lengthy sentences for bank fraud and tax evasion, their son Kyle Chrisley was arrested in Tennessee on suspicion of assault and brandishing a knife.

Todd and Julie Chrisley were best known for being opinionated multimillionaire real estate developers, a trait that landed them on reality television. Kyle is Todd’s oldest son, and Julie is his stepmother.

Todd Chrisley was sentenced to 12 years in prison, while Julie Chrisley received seven years, according to the U.S. attorney’s office in Atlanta, NBC News reported.

On March 13, Kyle Chrisley was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault by police in Smyrna, Tennessee, a suburb of the Nashville metropolitan area. He was booked into Rutherford County Adult Detention Center, before being released on $3,000 bond, according to the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office, CBS News reported.

Kyle Chrisley brandishes a knife

The incident occurred on Monday, March 13, between Kyle Chrisley and an employee of Penske Truck Rentals in Smyrna, WGNS Radio confirmed.

According to reports, Kyle, the once-estranged son of Todd Chrisley, was arrested after the 32-year-old allegedly became embroiled in an argument with an employee at Penske Truck Rentals that turned into a physical altercation in which the reality star brandished a “fixed blade,” People reported.

The victim’s employer called police after learning that Chrisley allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the face and upper body.

“The victim stated that the defendant also displayed a fixed blade knife and threatened to kill/stab him,” according to an affidavit of the complaint.

“I observed injuries to the victim’s head, neck and hand to include bruises and lacerations,” a responding Smyrna police officer wrote in a report.

A witness on the scene told police that the alleged suspect [Chrisley] displayed a knife and “threatened to stab the victim.”

On March 14, Kyle “voluntarily appeared … for booking procedures related to the active criminal warrant,” according to a press release.

Kyle Chrisley was scheduled to appear in court on March 20, according to public citation records.

No report on the outcome of the court hearing was immediately available at press time.
