Royal family skipped Lilibet’s christening-but a famous filmmaker showed up

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle invited members of the royal family to attend the christening of their daughter Princess Lilibet. Charles, Camilla, William, and Kate did not attend – but you’ll never guess who did!

Royal family gives Lilibet’s christening a royal snub

It was a sign that tensions in the royal family have not subsided: four members at the top of the hierarchy were invited by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to attend the christening of their daughter Princess Lilibet but skipped out. King Charles, Queen Camilla, Prince William, and Kate Middleton all received invitations but did not attend the christening on Friday, March 3, for Harry and Meghan’s daughter, Princess Lilibet Diana, in Montecito, California.

At least 20-30 people were present for the intimate gathering, including Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. However, on Harry’s side of the family, the Royals were a no-show, People reported.

However, the Royals put out a statement on the family’s website listing the packed itinerary of duties they had over the two weeks in response to reports that they had “snubbed” the christening.

Among their obligations was a meeting Charles had with European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen after Rishi Sunak’s revised Brexit agreement, the Daily Mail reported.

Lilibet becomes a princess

“I can confirm that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on Friday, March 3 by the bishop in the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles, the Rev John Taylor,” a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex told People.

According to rules set out by King George V in 1917, after their grandfather Charles became monarch following the death of Queen Elizabeth, Archie, 3, and Lilibet, nearly 2, inherited the titles of Prince and Princess.

Despite a no-show by the Royals, Buckingham Palace will update its website to reflect Archie’s and Lili’s titles.

What famous filmmaker attended Lilibet’s christening?

Among the 20-30 guests, according to an insider, was a famous Hollywood filmmaker. He lives in Atlanta but flew to California to attend the ceremony. Not only that – he brought entertainment. In his entourage, he provided a 10-person gospel choir that sang “Oh Happy Day” and “This Little Light of Mine.” The latter was also played at Harry and Meghan’s wedding.

Who is this Hollywood producer, director, writer, and actor who has received 51 nominations in his career?

It was none other than Tyler Perry!
