Police released footage on Friday showing the moment Paul Pelosi was viciously pummeled with a hammer in front of two cops. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi broke down giving an update on her husband’s health.

Police footage of Paul Pelosi hammer attack released to the public

Last Friday, police released body camera footage revealing the exact moment House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul, was bludgeoned and repeatedly pummeled with a hammer by a home intruder in a vicious attack that occurred right in front of two officers.

Police responded on October 28, 2002, for a wellness check at the Pelosi residence around 2:20 AM.

The distressing video content was posted on the New York Post website and shows a painful expression on Paul Pelosi’s face as he is holding onto one side of the hammer, as suspect David DePape pries away his fingers shortly after Paul opens the door to the police.

DePape then wrestled the hammer free from Pelosi and swung it at him with full force while the police officers ran toward the suspect.

The whole encounter unfolded in a matter of seconds and left Paul Pelosi lying unconscious in a pool of his own blood, suffering from a fractured skull.

Paul Pelosi was rushed to a nearby hospital and underwent surgery to remove and repair part of his skull. He spent nearly a week in intensive care.

The suspect, David DePape, 42, an alleged conspiracy theorist, pleaded not guilty to state and federal charges, including attempted kidnapping, attempted homicide, first-degree burglary, assault of an immediate family member of a federal official, and other charges last November. He remains in jail and faces up to 50 years in prison if convicted.

Nancy Pelosi breaks down while giving an update on husband after horrific hammer attack

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) broke down, and she was overwhelmed by emotions as she discussed her husband’s recovery from last October’s horrific attack after he was bludgeoned by a man who broke into a couple’s San Francisco home.

Nancy said Paul was “doing okay,” but it was going to be a long process and one requiring caution, the Daily Mail reported.

“It’s going to take a little while for him to be back to normal,” Nancy said.

“Anyone who’s had a head injury knows that you have to be very careful,” Nancy explained. “You have to be careful about movement. You have to be careful about light, you have to be careful about sound and it just takes a while, probably another three or four months, according to the doctors, for him to be really himself.”

From the date of Paul’s attack, that would mean February 2023.

“It had cracked,” Nancy elaborated on the condition of Paul’s skull. “What they have to do is take off the skull, reshape it and put it back so it isn’t scratched or doesn’t pierce the brain. So it’s a pretty serious operation.”
