A story spreading like wildfire claims that Tesla CEO Elon Musk had an affair late last year with the wife of Google co-founder Sergey Brin, who is one of the world’s top 10 richest men.
The audacious claims were published by the Wall Street Journal, which reported that Musk, 51, engaged in a brief affair last fall with entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan, the wife of Sergey Brin, 48, in early December 2021 at the Art Basel event in Miami.
The report claims that during the early days when Tesla was struggling, Brin had loaned Musk money, and the pair were so close that Musk had regularly slept at Brin’s home.
Citing people familiar with the matter, the WSJ piece claimed that the affair led to Shanahan divorcing Brin. The couple married in 2018 and filed for divorce in January 2022, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The filing states the couple separated on December 15, 2021, Yahoo reported.
Brin reportedly has a net worth of $90 billion.
Musk dropped to one knee and begged for forgiveness, report claims
Another of the brazen claims the WSJ piece makes is that, at a party earlier this year, Elon Musk “dropped to one knee in front of Brin and apologized profusely for the transgression.” Musk allegedly begged Google co-founder Sergey Brin for forgiveness. Brin is said to have acknowledged the apology but is no longer speaking with Musk and has ordered his team to sell off his personal investment in Musk’s companies.
Musk denies report as another WSJ BS hit piece
Elon Musk is laughing off the report as another smear campaign. In a series of Twitter posts, denied the rumors.
“This is total bs. Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night!,” Musk tweeted.
Musk sent a photo to the New York Post showing him partying with Brin.
“Took this pic only two hours ago,” Musk told the Post, which published the picture showing Musk and Brin side-by-side.
“I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around,” Musk added. “Nothing romantic.”
“Haven’t even had sex in ages (sigh),” Musk responded in another tweet.
“I work crazy hours, so there just isn’t much time for shenanigans,” Musk said in yet another tweet. “None of the key people involved in these alleged wrongdoings were even interviewed!”
