Megan Fox on Son, 8, Wearing Dresses to School: ‘Teaching Him Confidence’

Actress Megan Fox spoke out this week about her 8-year-old son wearing dresses to school, which she encourages, saying: “I’m trying to teach him to be confident no matter what anyone else says.”

Fox has encouraged son to wear dresses since he was 4 years old

Thirty-four-year-old actress Megan Fox, known for movies such as Jennifer’s Body, Transformers and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, spoke out about her son and gender expectations this week.

Fox, a mother of three, broke into tears during an interview with InStyle when discussing the subject of how her son has been subjected to “mean, awful people and cruel people” online.

According to Fox, her son has been wearing dresses since he was at least four years old.

“He just wore one two days ago to school, and he came home and I was like, ‘How was it?” Fox said. “Did any of the friends at school have anything to say?'”

“And he was like, ‘Well, all the boys laughed when I came in, but I don’t care, I love dresses too much,'” Fox continued.

“I don’t want him to ever have to read that sh-t because he hears it from little kids at his own school who are like, ‘Boys don’t wear dresses,'” Fox added.

In a separate 2019 interview, Fox said of her son: “Sometimes, he’ll dress himself and he likes to wear dresses sometimes.”

“And I send him to a really liberal, hippy school, but even there — here in California — he still has little boys going, ‘Boys don’t wear dresses,’ or ‘Boys don’t wear pink,'” Fox added.

“So we’re going through that now, where I’m trying to teach him to be confident no matter what anyone else says,” Fox said this week regarding their struggle.

Fox’s ex-husband, Brian Austin Green defends son’s love of dresses

Fox’s ex-husband, Brian Austin Green, in a 2017 interview, also defended his then-four-year-old son.

“My son, he’s four,” Green said at the time. “I’ve heard from some people that they don’t agree with him wearing dresses. To them I say, I don’t care. He’s 4 and if he wants to wear it, then he wears it.”

“And it’s dresses or goggles or slippers or whatever. It’s his life, they’re not my clothes,” Green continued. “He’s 4 and if he wants to wear it, then he wears it.”

“I feel like at 4, at 5, that’s a time when he should be having fun,” Green added. “He’s not harming anyone wearing a dress. So if he wants to wear a dress…good on him.”
