Kevin Costner to quit ‘Yellowstone’? All the drama behind the scenes

Rumors are running rampant that actor Kevin Costner is quitting the hit TV series Yellowstone. The latest scoop on all the drama behind the scenes, and Kevin’s camp weighs in on whether he plans to stay or hit the trail.

What’s going on with the TV series Yellowstone? Drama and rumors.

Yellowstone is a hit Western TV series from Paramount starring Kevin Costner that debuted in 2018, and it’s been less than a month since he won a Golden Globe for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series for his role as John Dutton.

The hit show has received some 33 industry nominations and 7 wins, and Paramount+ has already spawned a number of sequels.

1883, a prequel series titled 1883 which launched in December 2021, starred Sam Elliott, and husband-and-wife country music stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill. The series was short-lived and concluded on February 27, 2022. But keep an eye out for a cameo with Tom Hanks.

1923, which stars Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford, made its debut on December 8, 2022, and wrapped up in 2023.

6666 (pronounced “four sixes”), is the next spinoff in line, set to debut in 2024, and this time will be set in West Texas, rather than Montana as depicted in Yellowstone. No word as yet on who the cast will be.

There is a rumor that Matthew McConaughey was in talks to star in a Yellowstone spinoff in February, and ViacomCBS President Chris McCarthy confirmed in an interview with the Hollywood Reporter in March that the McConaughey-led spinoff is moving forward, People reported.

What is all the Yellowstone drama?

In a nutshell, the main drama is whether star Kevin Costner is going to leave the series or return. The main issue revolves around the 68-year-old actor’s shooting schedule, as he has become less and less available, limiting the days he can participate, which has grown since the show has progressed, according to Variety.

Reportedly, Costner has been spending more time on his long-gestating Western epic Horizon, People reports.

According to a report from Deadline, Costner’s divided attention has become “a source of frustration for [creator Taylor] Sheridan.”

This push and pull with Costner’s schedule reportedly has laid the foundations for “morale problems for the other stars of the show.”

Will Kevin Costner quit ‘Yellowstone’? What his camp has to say…

The rumors that Kevin Costner was leaving Yellowstone first kicked up in February 2023.

Two weeks after the report, Costner’s attorney Marty Singer issued a denial, calling the allegations his client was unwilling to work “an absolute lie,” People reported.

Keith Cox, Paramount Network president of development & production, said he remains hopeful of Costner’s future with the series.

“What I can say is our star, the face of our show and the executive producer, are very confident he’s going to continue with our show,” Cox said during a PaleyFest panel.

A number of outlets reported that Costner nor his reps have replied to requests for comments.

One thing is for certain, “Yellowstone” has proven to be one of the most popular shows on television during its run.
