Giselle finally dishes on her split from Tom Brady

Supermodel Gisele Bündchen has remained quiet since divorcing Tom Brady last October, but now she’s opening up, calling the split “death and a rebirth.” She also says the NFL legend returning to football was never a factor.

Gisele Bündchen discusses the end of her marriage to Tom Brady

Gisele Bündchen is finally speaking out about her relationship and divorce with NFL superstar Tom Brady, saying that all the factors to the split are “not so black and white” and most of the media speculation isn’t true.

Late last year, supermodel Gisele Bündchen split from NFL quarterback Tom Brady, after 13 years of marriage. The couple announced in October and in separate statements on social media that they had finalized their divorce, NBC Sports reported.

Brady and Bundchen were married in 2009 and share two children – Benjamin, age 14, and Vivian, age 9. Brady also has a 15-year-old son, Jack, from his previous relationship with actress Bridget Moynahan.

Much of media speculation about split untrue, Bündchen says

In a March cover story for Vanity Fair, Bündchen is finally speaking out about the power couple’s divorce, with the most surprising statement from the supermodel being that much of what has been portrayed in the media just isn’t true, she says.

Much of the speculation from the media about the impetus for the couple’s breakup was Tom backing out of retirement to play football in the NFL for another season, CNN reported.

That “just isn’t true,” Bündchen said. “That takes years to happen.”

Bündchen said the idea that she would leave Brady over his football career was “the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.”

“Listen, I have always cheered for him, and I would continue forever,” Bündchen stated. “If there’s one person I want to be the happiest in the world, it’s him, believe me.”

“I want him to achieve and to conquer,” Bündchen added. “I want all his dreams to come true. That’s what I want, really, from the bottom of my heart.”

The factors in the split had nothing to do with Brady returning to football, it was a “much bigger puzzle”

Bündchen says the end of her 13-year marriage to Tom Brady cannot be explained simply.

“What’s been said is one piece of a much bigger puzzle,” Bündchen said. “Not so black and white.”

“Sometimes you grow together, sometimes you grow apart,” Bündchen continued. “When I was 26 years old and he was 29 years old, we met, we wanted a family, we wanted things together.”

“As time goes by, we realize that we just wanted different things, and now we have a choice to make,” Bündchen explained. “That doesn’t mean you don’t love the person. It just means that in order for you to be authentic and truly live the life that you want to live, you have to have somebody who can meet you in the middle, right? It’s a dance. It’s a balance.”

In describing her split from Brady, Bündchen likened their parting to “a death and a rebirth.” She also said she was mourning “the death of my dream.”

“It’s tough because you imagine your life was going to be a certain way, and you did everything you could,”  Bündchen explained. “You give everything you’ve got to achieve your dream. You give a hundred percent of yourself, and it’s heartbreaking when it doesn’t end up the way you hoped for, and worked for, but you can only do your part. “
