Father Shoots Man Peeping Into His 10-Year-Old’s Bedroom

A Texas father chased down a man who was peeping into his 10-year-old daughter’s bedroom while gratifying himself. The suspect ultimately took the mother’s gun, and the dad shot him in order to protect his family.

Father forced to shoot suspect who peeped into 10-year-old daughter’s bedroom

Around 10 PM, in Houston, Texas, a couple heard their 10-year-old daughter scream from her bedroom. The girl had looked out her window and saw a man peeping at her while inappropriately touching and pleasuring himself, KTRK-TV reported.

“She looks over at the window and this guy is at her window,” the girl’s mother, who preferred to protect her identity, told KPRC-TV. “He took my daughter’s innocence away.”

The girl’s parents, licensed gun owners, armed themselves with handguns, and then headed outside to confront the man.

Upon approaching the subject, the father, who also chose to remain anonymous, said both he and his wife ordered the man to lie down in their front yard until police arrived.

However, the reportedly intoxicated man did not comply and headed across the street to a gas station.

Struggle for gun ends in shooting

According to local deputies, the mother held the suspect at gunpoint while the father went into the gas station to ask the clerk to call 911. The suspect then attacked the woman. He wrestled and disarmed her, then pointed the gun in her direction.

The husband raced outside and, fearing the suspect was about to shoot his wife, fired.

“We didn’t want this guy to get shot,” the mother told reporters. “We were waiting for police to detain him because I’m pretty sure if he did this to my child, he’s doing it to a lot of other children out here.”

“We are praying for the suspect and we are also praying for his family,” the mother added.

According to deputies, the father shot the suspect three times. However, the father told told KTRK-TV he believed he shot the man four times; twice in the chest, once in the stomach and once in the side, Fox reported.

Suspect in stable but critical condition

The man was transported to a local hospital in critical but stable condition, according to the Sheriff’s office. The suspect’s name has not been released. The case is currently being investigated by the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, KWTX reported.

“Because the incident is still an open investigation with the finding to be forwarded to the Harris County District Attorney’s Office for Grand Jury Review, the names of all parties are not releasable,” said Senior Deputy Thomas M Gilliland of the Harris County Sheriff’s Department.
