Dick Van Dyke recently appeared on the season 9 premiere of The Masked Singer, proving that at 97, he hasn’t slowed down. This legendary star of film and TV attributed a few different secret factors to his long, happy life.

Dick Van Dyke appears to be forever young, staying active and spunky as ever at the age of 97. As a testament to eternal youth, Van Dyke, recently appeared on the season 9 premiere of The Masked Singer, the oldest performer ever to appear on the show.

All the judges praised Dick Van Dyke for his appearance and performance.

Host Nick Cannon called the moment being in “the presence of greatness.” A tearful Nicole Scherzinger said: “You’re our childhood.” Ken Jeong said, “You are comedy.” Jenny McCarthy-Walhberg declared, “You’re the G.O.A.T.!”

For his part, Van Dyke said, “Nobody guessed me! Which is funny.” The judges speculated everyone from Mel Brooks to Robert De Niro to Dustin Hoffman. “Wait just a minute,” Van Dyke said. “Those guys can’t sing!”

Van Dyke reveals his anti-aging secrets

In a recent interview with Yahoo Entertainment, the reporters prodded Van Dyke to reveal some of the secrets that keep him going strong and young at heart even as he approaches the century mark.

Secret #1: “Genes, I guess, for one thing,” Van Dyke revealed to Yahoo, People reported.

Secret #2: “Having a beautiful young wife half my age to take care of me — that works!” Van Dyke said. “My positive attitude, I get that from my wife.”

“She’s very mature for her age, and I’m very immature for my age, so it’s just about right!” Van Dyke added.

Van Dyke’s wife, Arlene Silver, whom he married in 2012, is 51 years old and a celebrity makeup artist, Yahoo reported.

Secret #3: “Exercise is the answer,” Van Dyke said. He was quick to plug the book he wrote on the subject, entitled “Keep Moving.” In the book, Van Dyke gives other “tips and truths about aging.”

“I still go to the gym three days a week and work out,” Van Dyke said. “And I advise everybody to do that, because that’s what ages people. It’s just a stiffening up and not exercising their muscles and their lungs. Exercise is the answer.”
