Initial reports on the death of actress Raquel Welch stated that she had died on the morning of February 15 after a brief illness, but now, surprising specific details surrounding her tragic passing have been revealed.

Details on the tragic causes leading to the death of Raquel Welch revealed

On February 15, 2023, the world was shocked to hear of the passing of model, actress, and international bombshell symbol of beauty Raquel Welch.

Initial reports from Welch’s longtime manager, Steve Sauer, confirmed to People that the 82-year-old Hollywood pinup and entrepreneur had “died peacefully after a brief illness.”

A statement from Welch’s son Damon said his mother “passed away with no pain.”

On April 4, TMZ obtained Welch’s death certificate, which revealed new details regarding the underlying causes of her death.

According to the death certificate, Welch passed away at 2:25 AM on February 15, 2023, due to cardiac arrest. However, the certificate also stated that one of the underlying causes of her death was Alzheimer’s disease.

Approximately 90 percent of people who suffer cardiac arrest outside of a hospital die, typically within minutes.

It’s possible that Raquel Welch may have been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease for years and keeping the condition hidden from the public.

How the disease contributed to her death

Alzheimer’s disease does more than cause memory loss.

Research has suggested that certain medical conditions are more common in people who have Alzheimer’s disease than within the general population. It is common for people with Alzheimer’s to have heart and blood circulation problems, diabetes, and suffer from stroke. Diseases that are caused by infections are also common, according to the National Institutes of Health (NIH).

At what age do symptoms first occur?

Most people suffer from the late-onset variety of the disease, in which symptoms first began to appear in people in their mid-60s or later. When the disease develops before age 65, it’s considered early-onset Alzheimer’s. Although Alzheimer’s can begin as early as in someone’s 30s, this is rare, according to the NIH.

How condition leads to death

People suffering from severe Alzheimer’s disease near the end of their life may be in bed most or all of the time as their body shuts down. They often have an inability to communicate. In addition to general physical decline, there is an increase of dental, skin, and foot problems, as well as can cause a loss of bowel and bladder control. They may lose interest in eating and have difficulty swallowing. They may suffer from seizures.

There is currently no cure for Alzheimer’s, although there are medicines that help treat the disease or relieve symptoms.
