Chiefs’ Nick Allegretti’s wife gives birth in wee hours before Super Bowl

While the rest of the team slept, Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Nick Allegretti was up in the predawn hours on Super Bowl Sunday, watching on FaceTime as his wife went into labor back home in Chicago.

On the morning of Super Bowl Sunday, February 12, in the lobby of the team’s hotel in Arizona, Allegretti watched the birth unfold as the couple welcomed twin girls, the Associated Press reported.

“It’s the best day of my life no matter what – 3:30, 4 a.m. – I became a dad, father of two daughters,” Allegretti told Chief’s Digest, per Good Morning America. “Unbelievable. And now, I’ve got a ring for both of them.”

Back on Thanksgiving, the couple first announced they would become parents, as Christina Allegretti shared a family photo, caption: “So much to be thankful for this year!”

Christina shared another pregnancy announcement photo in which she and Nick held two tiny pairs of white sneakers, People reported.

More Chiefs babies

Chiefs players added more to the fan pool. Wide receiver Mecole Hardman Jr. and girlfriend Chariah Gordon welcomed a baby boy early on Feb. 13.

Just before the Super Bowl, Hardman, 24, tweeted that his girlfriend went into labor early Sunday morning ahead of the big game.

Eagles’ Kelce & wife were on baby watch at Super Bowl – brought their own obstetrician

It was a baby watch for Philadelphia Eagles starting center Jason Kelce, whose brother Travis Kelce plays tight end for Kansas City. Jason and his wife Kylie are expecting their third child at any moment.

Kylie Kelce, who is 38 weeks pregnant, attended the Super Bowl even though she could go into labor at any moment, KMBC reported. To be safe, the couple brought their OBGYN with them to Arizona just in case. Her obstetricians were on hand at State Farm Stadium on Sunday just in case the baby decided to make a sudden emergence during the game.

“We haven’t talked too much game plan if it happens during the Super Bowl,” Jason Kelce said. “But I like to think my wife will not tell me. And just find a way to hold off, hopefully ’til after the game for the actual delivery.”
