Aaron Carter’s Death: Nick, Backstreet Boys, and Hilary Duff Pay Tribute

Singer Aaron Carter, 34, who came to pop fame in the 1990s, and the brother of Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter, was found dead in his bathtub on Saturday, what authorities know, and celebrity tributes pour in.

Singer Aaron Carter found dead at 34

Police in Lancaster, California responded to a 911 call of a drowning and arrived to find singer Aaron Carter “unresponsive” in a bathtub by a staff member, news.com.au reported.

Neighbors reported hearing “chilling screams” when his body was found. While an investigation is ongoing and authorities gave no information regarding a possible cause of death, friends suspect the troubled singer died of a drug overdose.

However, in an interview, Aaron Carter denied that he drank or had a drug problem, CNN reported.

Carter’s career

Aaron Carter released four studio albums between 1997-2002. His self-titled first album went gold, but his second, Aaron’s Party, released in 2000, went triple platinum, and his third album Oh Aaron, released in 2001, went platinum as well. Despite strong album sales with the first three, his only US single to crack the Top 40 was “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” in 2000. However, he had multiple singles crack the Top 10 in Europe.

After a 16-year break, he released his fifth and final album, Love in 2018, which failed to chart into the Top 200.

Aaron opened for the Backstreet Boys during 1997-1998 on their European tour and the Backstreet’s Back Tour.

Aaron also appeared with his brother Nick on the E! reality series House of Carters together, along with their three other siblings, during the single season run of the series, TVline reported.

Brother Nick and Backstreet Boys, twin sister, ex Hilary Duff honor Aaron

The Backstreet Boys appeared in London on Sunday as part of their DNA World Tour, less than 24 hours after discovering the tragic news, the Daily Mail reported.

Despite the tragic news, the Backstreet Boys’ opening act confirmed that the show would go on.

Nick Carter, 42, sobbed on stage at London’s O2, breaking down while he was singing the verse on their hit song “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely,” and was unable to finish.

Bandmates hugged and supported Nick as they paid tribute to Aaron.

“Tonight, we’ve got heavy hearts because we lost one of our family members yesterday,” Kevin Richardson told the audience. “We just wanted to find a moment in our show to recognize him. He’s a part of our family, and we thank you guys for all your love and support.”

The Daily Mail reported that Aaron Carter’s twin sister, Angel Conrad, took to Instagram to post a living tribute to her brother, which included numerous photos of the pair as children.

“To my twin…I loved you beyond measure,” Angel wrote. “You will be missed dearly. My funny, sweet Aaron, I have so many memories of you and I, and I promise to cherish them. I know you’re at peace now.”

“I will carry you with me until the day I die and get to see you again,” Angel added.

Singer Hilary Duff, 35, who dated Aaron Carter when they were teenagers, also shared an emotional post mourning the death of her ex-boyfriend, E! Online reported.

“For Aaron- I’m deeply sorry that life was so hard for you and that you had to struggle in front of the whole world,” Hilary wrote on Instagram. “You had a charm that was absolutely effervescent…boy, did my teenage self love you deeply. Sending love to your family at this time. Rest easy.”
