2 million air fryers recalled

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) is warning consumers to “immediately stop” using the roughly 2 million Cosori air fryers that have been recalled because they pose a possible fire and burning risk.

Recall of 2 million air fryers due to fire and overheating risk

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) advised that consumers “should immediately stop” using roughly 2 million recalled air fryers. The agency said it has received 205 incident reports of the air fryers “catching fire, burning, melting, overheating and smoking.” Those reports included ten reports of “minor, superficial burn injuries,” as well as 23 reports of property damage, CNN reported.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission (USCPSC) tweeted: “#Recall:

@CosoriCooks 2 Million COSORI® Air Fryers Recalled by Atekcity. A wire connection in the air fryers can overheat. 205 reports air fryers catching fire, burning, melting, overheating, and smoking. Get replacement. Full notice: here.”

In addition, roughly 250,000 air fryers in Canada and 21,000 air fryers in Mexico were also recalled, GMA reported.

“After a thorough investigation, we determined that in extremely rare circumstances, the closed-end crimp connectors within the recalled air fryers — which are responsible for establishing electrical connections between certain wires — can overheat, posing fire and burn hazards,” Cosori said in a statement posted on its website.

“All of our products are rigorously and routinely tested for consumer safety and are in full compliance with established industry standards,” Cosori added in its statement on its official recall website. “COSORI is committed to the safety of those who use and love our products, and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.”
