William and Kate’s Tenth Anniversary Photos are Heartwarming

It’s been ten years since Prince William and Kate Middleton tied the knot at Westminster Abbey. In the intervening time, they’ve both engaged in numerous charitable endeavors and have taken on more official responsibilities in the palace. Since Thursday, April 29 is the couple’s official tenth anniversary, they released photos taken by celebrity photographer Chris Floyd on the official Kensington Royal Twitter account.

The pair have been tasked with more responsibilities lately due to recent events. William’s brother, Harry, and his wife, Meghan, stepped down from their official roles as royalty in 2020. His grandfather, Prince Philip, passed away earlier this month at the age of 99. As Queen Elizabeth is now 95, her son, Charles, and Harry are taking on more formal responsibilities than ever in the palace.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been featured prominently in official materials from Buckingham Palace. Since their wedding ten years ago, they’ve had three children, and pictures of the happy family often show them together as a model of domestic bliss.

Recently, the couple was photographed at the funeral of Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh. Following Philip’s passing, William’s father, Charles, has inherited the title of Duke of Edinburgh. Charles is also the heir apparent to the throne, as his mother, the Queen’s, oldest son. William, for his part, has been second in line for the throne since the date of his birth, in 1982, as the eldest son of Charles and his then-wife, the late Princess Diana.

Anniversary Photos

In the anniversary photos, posted on the couple’s official Twitter account, Princess Kate can be seen wearing the engagement ring that was unveiled ten years ago. The striking piece of jewelry belonged to William’s mother, Diana, and, as such, holds a sentimental place for the couple. William noted, at the time, that the presence of the ring at their wedding was a way for his mother to be present in spirit.

That style of ring has become very popular as an engagement and wedding ring in the years following the couple’s dazzling royal wedding.

Also visible in one of the photos is a distinctive wristwatch, worn by William since the day of the wedding. The piece is believed to have been a gift from Diana to her son before her passing. The watch is an OMEGA Seamaster Quartz, a style that has seen an increase in popularity since William has begun wearing it publicly.
