The video is definitely exciting for many overworked Millennials and Gen Zers amid the quiet quitting craze who are seeking rest. The “personal time off” guru named @Fandomfanboi on TikTok is amazing people with this simple scheduling hack, the New York Post reported.

Even though his video said “eighteen days,” once you count, as you’ll see below, it actually worked out to nineteen PTO days.

The “days off code”

Not to worry, the “days off code” is much simpler than cracking in Dan Brown’s Da Vinci Code. Here is the breakdown for getting 46 days off using 19 days of PTO.

It works like this: Workers who get “paid time off” (PTO) request specific days off from their jobs in the months of January, April, July, November, and December 2023.

Using the following “code,” you can “beat the crowd” at your place of employment to get your request in early for 2023 to maximize your days off next year.

January 2023: If you take Thursday and Friday off before MLK day – you’ll get 5 consecutive days off.

April 2023: If you take the four days before Good Friday off – you’ll have a 10-day break.

July 2023: If you take the Monday before July 4 off – you’ll get a 4-day break.

November 2023: If you take five days after Veterans Day and three days before Thanksgiving – you’ll get 17 consecutive days off.

December 2023: If you take four days between Christmas and New Year’s off – you’ll have 10 consecutive days off.

Despite his title, the PTO days appear to use 19.

Totaling PTO days: (Jan) 2 + (Apr) 4 + (Jul) 1 + (Nov) 8 + (Dec) 4 = 19

Grand total days off: (Jan) 5 + (Apr) 10 + (Jul) 4 + (Nov) 17 + (Dec) 10 = 46 days off.
