Taylor and Joe broke up a few weeks ago,” a source close to Taylor confirmed to CNN. “They simply grew apart and plan to remain friends.”
Currently, Grammy winner Taylor, 33, is traveling across the country performing in her sold-out Eras tour, where the English actor Alwyn, 32, had been noticeably absent.
The split was first reported by Entertainment Tonight, which characterized their partying as “amicable.”
“It was not dramatic,” a source told ET. “The relationship had just run its course. It’s why Alwyn hasn’t been spotted at any [Eras] shows.”
Brings engagement rumors to an end
The couple began dating in 2016, People reported. However, they did not confirm their relationship to the public until doing so on Instagram in May 2018, posting identical photos of themselves in the same desert location, Yahoo Entertainment reported.
Over the years, the pair had kept their romance private, while continuing to deflect engagement rumors.
“If I had a pound for every time I think I’ve been told I’ve been engaged, then I’d have a lot of pound coins,” Alwyn previously quipped to the Wall Street Journal.
“I mean, the truth is, if the answer was yes, I wouldn’t say, and if the answer was no, I wouldn’t say,” Alwyn added on the matter of whether he was set to walk down the aisle with the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter.
Previously, a source told People that Swift was “very happy” in her relationship with Alwyn.
“He is her rock,” the source said at the time. “Their relationship is mature and wonderful.”

Swift had avoided commenting publicly on her relationship with Alwyn. But it’s well known that she avidly writes about her love life in her music.
In 2012, she shared that even though she doesn’t “talk about my personal life in great detail, I write about it in my songs, and I feel like you can share enough about your life in your music to let people know what you’re going through.”
