She stole over $45K from ailing grandpa – what she spent it on will disgust you

A 79-year-old grandfather can no longer live in a care home after his 25-year-old granddaughter stole $45K of his life savings. What she spent the cash on will disgust you.

Granddaughter becomes untrustworthy power of attorney for ailing grandpa

When the health of 79-year-old Norman Glover deteriorated, the family had to make the decision to place him in a care home.

At the same time, the “vulnerable” elderly man required someone to look after his home, pay the bills, and make any necessary repairs, The Express reports.

To that end, Glover’s 25-year-old granddaughter, Nicole Taylor, was granted power of attorney to help him with his affairs. Taylor was given access to his bank card, which was connected to his savings. Glover had worked his whole life to earn this money, which he also needed to care for his elderly wife, who has since passed away.

But rather than use her grandfather’s money to pay the bills, Taylor went on a splurge, spending money in a manner that would disgust most people.

Over the course of a year, Glover’s family began to realize something was wrong. They obtained copies of the bank statements, which revealed the theft, and took them to the police.

Nicole Taylor pleaded guilty and was jailed for 14 months at Preston Crown Court, Yahoo News reported.

“Taylor took advantage of her vulnerable grandfather at his time of need,” Detective Constable Rebecca Pugh of Preston Police said. “The money spent was money he had earned and saved through working his whole life.”

“Her greed has left her family and in particular her grandfather devastated,” Pugh added. “The financial loss means he can no longer choose his care home because she selfishly took away that luxury.”

After Nicole Taylor pleaded guilty to stealing more than $45,000 from her grandfather’s life savings, she confessed to what she blew his cash on.

Nicole said that, over the course of a year, she used the money to purchase drugs, get tattoos, and takeout food. She also reportedly paid for holidays and a car, according to The Express.

She later admitted to having a drug problem, BBC reported.
