For people who work at home and are eager to take a Work-cation trip somewhere, Discover Puerto Rico, its tourism board, is giving away a number of free two-week to show how easy it is to work from the island.
Why work from home when you can work from a beautiful island?
Many Americans who work from home can really work from anywhere, usually, anywhere that has an Internet connection, and if you may not even need that.
According to a Harris Poll taken last month, now that the ability to travel is easing in some places, 74 percent of Americans surveyed said they are thinking about taking a work-cation.
So, if you can work from anywhere – why not work from a beautiful island?
That’s the idea behind the new “Work in Full Color,” a “work-cation” giveaway initiative by Discover Puerto Rico, the island’s tourism board. They want Americans to see how easy it is to work from the island while enjoying the majesty of its turquoise-blue waters.
Discover Puerto Rico is offering six Americans the chance to win a free two-week trip to “work from home” from the island.
Luxury accommodations around the island include a floating villa off Fajardo, an Old San Juan apartment, a luxury oceanfront suite at Copamarina Beach Resort & Spa, and a three-bedroom Palmas del Mar condo, Travel and Leisure reported.
Why working from Puerto Rico is so easy
With Puerto Rico being a United States territory, it gives you many advantages to traveling elsewhere outside of the continental US.
Advantages include:
- Americans don’t need passports, visas or proof of insurance to work on the island for an extended time.
- US currency, no need to convert currency.
- Same time as Eastern time for half the year (1 hour ahead for rest of year).
- Familiar conveniences: Uber Eats, Walgreens, CVS, and Airbnb.
- 31 Internet providers and three 5G networks means ease of videoconferencing and staying connected to your current phone plan.
How to enter and benefits of giveaway
To enter the “Work in Full Color” to win an island work-cation, visit the Discover Puerto Rico giveaway here and describe what you could accomplish by working on the island for two weeks.
Winners receive:
- Round-Trip economy airfare
- Accommodations for 14 nights
- Free Wi-Fi throughout your stay.
Conditions:
- All entries must be received by May 13, 2021.
- Winners arriving in Puerto Rico must receive a negative PCR molecular test less than 72 hours before travel or be fined $300, in addition to taking another test within 48 hours of arrival, in accordance with CDC and EPA guidelines.
Important health and other considerations:
Puerto Rico has a Level 4 health advisory issued by the CDC, which recommends travelers to get fully vaccinated before travel and continue the safe practices initiated as part of the pandemic.
Other limitations on the island:
- Island-wide curfew between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.
- Bars are closed.
- Restaurants, pools, and museums are operating at 30% capacity.
