Apple Will Now Accept Other Brands for a Trade-In on a New iPhone

Smartphone users who have been eager to switch to an iPhone may finally have the incentive they need to make the move. Apple will now accept trade-ins of certain Google Pixel and Samsung Galaxy phones, reducing the price of a brand-new Apple phone to something a little more attainable.

Trading in your old phone is a sensible way to recoup a portion of the original price. If your phone is too old or damaged, however, Apple may not want it. In that case, your best options are recycling or donation, depending on the working condition of the phone. You should never throw away electronics, as they contain expensive–and potentially volatile–components.

Which Non-Apple Phone Models Will Be Accepted for a Trade-In on an iPhone?

The credit value you can receive for your old non-Apple phone ranges from $70 up to $425m depending on the model you are trading in. Essentially, the newer the model, the more value it holds. The same is true for both Apple products and their competitors’ models–although you may find that the price varies due to a range of factors.

Right now, Apple is only interested in accepting Samsung Galaxy and Google Pixel phones, so don’t try bringing your old Nokia flip-phone. Those literally belong in a museum!

Which Phone Models Are Worth the Most?

When it comes to non-Apple products there are seven competing models/brands that Apple will give you the most credit for – ranging from $200-$425. There are also numerous phones that Apple will give you between $70-$200 worth of credit on.

Things to keep in mind, the reason the offer says “up to” is that Apple will determine the exact value of the phone you trade-in by examining its current condition: such as scratches, dents and functionality. More information about policies can be found on Apple’s trade-in page.
