Lottery officials say the delay in announcing the $2.04 billion Powerball lottery jackpot winning numbers on Monday night’s drawing was caused by one of the 48 participating lotteries needing more time to complete the necessary protocols.
Before Monday, the jackpot was already at a record $1.9 billion and grew to $2.04 billion by the time of the drawing, according to the Multi-State Lottery Association. It was the world’s largest lottery prize, according to a statement by the Association.
Officials did not release the winning numbers until Tuesday morning as it waited for one participating lottery requiring additional time to process its sales and play data, the Multi-State Lottery Association said in a statement, CNN reported.

The winning numbers were announced on Tuesday morning by the Multi-State Lottery Association as: 10-33-41-47-56, and the Powerball was 10.

On Tuesday morning, it was still unclear whether anyone had won the record-setting $2.04 billion Powerball jackpot, NPR reported. If not, then the enormous jackpot will grow even larger for Wednesday’s drawing.
Woman wins $100,000, then wins $300,000 again on the same day
They say lightning doesn’t strike the same place twice, but for one woman in Delaware, her amazing lottery luck can be likened to the same odds after she won a pair of lottery prizes on the same day.
A 70-year-old woman who wishes to remain anonymous was “thrilled” after she won a $100,000 prize from an “instant game” ticket she purchased in Newark, Delaware, WCVB reported.
Realizing she had won a prize, the woman headed to the lotteries headquarters to claim her winnings. She said it was the largest prize she had ever won since starting to play the lottery about seven years ago.
Still feeling lucky, on the way home from pocketing her winnings, she stopped at a convenience store and purchased three “Serious Money” tickets.
Unbelievably, her luck was even better this time. One of the tickets was a top winner, with a prize of $300,000.
She headed back to the lottery headquarters, claiming her second six-figure prize in the same day, something she called “absolute insanity.”
“My best friend was the first person I told about winning the $100,000 top prize,” the woman said in a news release. “She came with me to claim it.”
“When I scratched the $300,000 winning ‘Serious Money’ ticket later in the day, we just sat there in disbelief,” the woman added.
According to the Delaware Lottery, the odds of winning the $100,000 “Instant Game” prize are just 1 in 120,000, and the odds of winning the $300,000 prize in the “Serious Money” game are 1 in 150,000.
